Don’t You Wish Doodle Grooming Course

(48 customer reviews)

LENGTH: 50 MINS

Unless you strictly do not take them, it is likely you have a Doodle or two on your client roster. Many times with new clients (or even current clients that have taken scissors to their dog) you will need to do some corrective grooming to not only fix over-grooming in certain areas, but visually correct conformation faults on the dog that were previously ignored. This means re-setting certain parts of the trim, and pretending there is hair where there isn’t to allow it to grow back in. Tess Oliver takes us through her initial evaluation of this (unicorn) first time Doodle client, pinpointing areas she knows she will need to fix or let grow back in. She then goes over her bathing process including frothing her shampoo and conditioner as well as highlighting an area that could use some extra attention with a leave-in conditioning treatment. Throughout the groom she emphasizes corrective grooming techniques to put this new client on the path to the perfect teddy bear Doodle pet trim.

Key take aways- foldy hold(our shop calls them the spit catchers) have an ACTUAL name…the flue. Thanks Tess! ⭐️🌈

Also, just really great tips for those of us who DO groom lots of doods and want to get that sweet Teddy cut. It’s nice to just get other perspectives.

  7. Francesca Bassett

I watched the newest video with him a year later and I have to say these are both super informative and shows that you can make a cute look out of any doodle hair! I’ve elevated my grooming with these courses and am happy to say I will be taking more! I especially loved the attention to detail without killing all your time.

  8. jessica.rahja

The first thing I love is the reminder that grooming is not a race, take your time on the difficult areas, breathe. OMG what a great course! If I could give 10 stars I would!

  9. Nicole Jenkins

    Great

  10. grace axcelson

i really learned a lot from this course!! lots of great tips demonstrated in a way i could process. the pup model was too cute:) i docked one star because there were a couple times the camera didnt have a great angle of what was going on. i was excited to see how tess went about trimming the inner back leg/tuck up as i tend to struggle with that, but the shot was blocked pretty much the whole time. overall awesome course tho!

  11. madilyn_radcliff

Great! Immediately helped me level up a couple grooms that I’ve been doing for a long time. Easy changes that were super quick to implement

  12. Chelsea Chesna

Helped me understand how to angle my shears to create a round look from all angles on the dog, and where to skim off while clipping the body to make him look extra fluffy. I also found it helpful seeing how she held the dogs ears to crate the front and back bevel there.

  13. Celine Mazzella

Fantastic course. I have a ton of doodle clients and this really changed the way I will be approaching faces, in particular from now on. And all education aside, I was very very impressed with the amazing handling skills and sweet manner of talking to the dog that Tess has. Beautiful to see.

  38. splattrn32

I feel this was a great video. Particle application and tips. Great job stating what she was doing and looking for as well as products or size combs using for clipping. I would say at times the video was blurry and or she was in the way of the camera. I would recommend and will come back to this video.

  40. maddiemoiselleeee

Doodles are always complicated because their hair is never right and the owner always wants that fluffy look even when the doodle has straight patches. It’s nice to see how to combat that
