Sommer Ferguson, a Master Certified Groomer recognized by both the NDGAA and AKC, embarked on her journey into the world of AKC shows in 2009. Her career, shaped by a genuine love for dogs and a passion for grooming, has been notably influenced by her five-year tenure with all-breed handlers Lisa Bettis and Ryan Wolfe. Working alongside Ryan and Lisa not only honed Sommer’s grooming skills but also facilitated connections with other handlers and breeders. These valuable connections have provided her with ongoing opportunities to learn from an array of amazing and talented individuals within the canine community. The collaborative spirit fostered by these relationships has played a pivotal role in shaping Sommer’s journey.

Her experiences in the show ring underscore commitment and talent, earning multiple group placements and the coveted title of Reserve Best. Transitioning into competitive grooming approximately 2 1/2 years ago, Sommer’s swift ascent to the Open Level Division after just two shows is a testament to her skill and dedication.

Lis Johnston’s mentorship guided Sommer’s transition into the pet grooming world, further enriching her skill set. Alongside her success in conformation, Sommer boasts an impressive record in grooming competitions, having secured two Best in Show titles and a Best All Around accolade. She has also received a second-place win with her Poodle and multiple placements with her cherished Bichons. Sommer has also clinched first place in several Sporting classes, showcasing her versatility and passion for diverse breeds. These victories underscore her prowess and dedication to excellence in the grooming arena. With a network of connections within the canine community, Sommer continues to learn and grow, drawing inspiration from the collective expertise of some of the most talented people in the field.
